I think a lot of people get caught up with the idea that certain pieces are strictly for summer or fall. In reality, it's quite easy to make a pair of jeans or your favorite wedges or tank top or whatever work throughout the whole year. In the end, it all comes down to what you wear them with.
So, if you've become as obsessed as I have with this year's favorite summer trends, here's a little help on how to wear them this fall:
::TANK TOPS:: all time summer favorite made a key accessory for fall.
Loading up on layers is always smart when the cooler weather hits, so use tanks to your advantage. Wear them under blazers, cardigans or sweaters. Plus they can be a great way to add colour to your wardrobe if you live in black!
::SHORTS:: It's all a matter of layering.
Layering a fall trend -like a cape or a vest- with your favorite summer shorts will take them from warm weather must-have to fall wardrobe staple.
OR if you want to dress-it-up for a special occasion, you can always turn your hotpants into a hot suit; wear them with a sexy, sheer blouse and a matching jacket & you're good to go.
::SKINNY JEANS:: The right colors can make a difference.
I think that with the skinny jeans, it's all matter of O1: finding ones that fit your body shape && O2: mixing them with the right colors - warm colors, in this case.
OR for a more dressy look, your favorite summer skinnies will look awesome with trendy metallics. Gray denim works especially well with shades of gold and bronze!
::DRESSES & SKIRTS:: The key? Increasing the sophistication factor with textured fabrics and looking for a shape-flattering fit.
- Do you have a long dress you're obsessed with? Good news: You can still wear it during fall! Layer it under a thin sweater for a stylish & very comfortable look. Same works for skirts.
- Feminine floral dresses look great with edgy, rockerish leather jackets, creating the perfect soft/hard balance.
- Switch to pumps. When you swap out strappy sandals for closed-toe heels, your sundress instantly becomes less summery.
::NUDE/PALE COLORED BAGS & SHOES:: Again, the colors make a statement.
The key to wearing them in the fall is to mix them with darker colors. For example, dark skinny jeans, grey sweatshirt, nude ballerina flats & a pale bag.
