Thursday [Week 2]
Jamie woke up disappointed and frustrated. Eric and her still had a secret, and engagements weren't meant to be secrets. She got out of bed and got ready for work, just wishing the day was over all ready. She was just in a mood.
“I'm sorry we didn't get to tell people once again,” Eric said as they walked into the park together.
“Me too. I feel like no one is ever going to know.”
“I know, but the right moment will come, we just have to be patient a little while longer,” with that he kissed her cheek and they went to get ready for the day.
As Jamie was entering her dressing room she caught Riley out of the corner of her eye stepping out to greet Eric. She automatically put her hand on his arm and leaned in to kiss his cheek. She whispered something to him and they both laughed.
Jamie shook it off and went to change, but she just thought there was something off about her. She was pretty sure that she was flirting with her boyfriend, and she didn't like that.
The day went by quickly, since it was only half a day. Jamie was looking forward to catching up with the girls for the rest of the day, but was worried about still keeping her secret. This was normally when they all purged themselves of stuff like that, but this wasn't just her secret.
She changed and was waiting outside for Eric when Riley came up.
“Jamie!” she called linking arms with her. “We have got to hang out, and soon. I really want to get to know you better.”
“Oh, uh, yeah, sure,” Jamie answered a bit startled by her sudden presence.
“You know I hadn't really noticed it before, but we kind of look a bit alike, don't you think?” Riley asked. “I wonder what else we have in common,” she pondered.
“I hadn't really given it much thought,” Jamie said and instantly realizing that there was a slight resemblance between the two of them, which was putting her off even more.
“Well I can't wait to find out what else is similar about us,” Riley continued. “I can already think of a few things,” she said starting right at Eric who was walking towards them.
“How are my girls getting along?” he asked.
“Just peachy,” Riley said smiling and leaving Jamie's side to go to Eric.
Jamie just stared at Eric, but tried to keep her emotions in check.
Riley had her hand on Eric's arm right away. “Well I'll let you two have a few moments and then I'll see you at the entrance?”
“Yeah,” Eric responded smiling as she walked away.
“Excuse me?” Jamie asked.
“Well today is a bonding day right? Riley and I are going to bond. The team is going to meet up with us later, but they are working right now. So until they get off Riley and I are going to share our favorite parts of Disney,” Eric explained.
“I don't like that,” Jamie stated.
“What's there to like about it?” asked Eric getting annoyed.
“I don't trust her Eric, and I don't like my boyfriend being alone with her after work.”
“Wasn't it just last summer that I was getting yelled at for being unreasonably jealous?”
“That was entirely different. I never hung out with guys I had just met, a couple of weeks ago, by myself. I was either with other people or I had been childhood friends with him. And this is so not unreasonable. She likes you, she's trying to date you.”
“Please, that's ridiculous. I already told you it's not like that.”
“Trust me. A girl knows these things.”
“No, you are being irrational. It's the stress from not telling people we are engaged. I'm going to let you clear your head and cool off. We can talk about this later.”
“So you are going to spend the afternoon and evening with her?”
“Yes,” and then Eric walked away.
Jamie was fuming. She stalked out to the parking lot to meet her friends. She tried to contain her anger and not let it spoil her day. She saw the girls waiting by the car they had decided to rent for the day and she joined them plastering a smile on her face.
“What's with you?” Heidi asked instantly.
“Nothing, I don't want to talk about it right now. Let's just get to the fun portion of our day,” Jamie answered smiling a bit.
They all piled in the car with Veronica driving. They had decided to do a progressive day of bonding. Each girl had picked an activity they wanted to do and it was a surprise to the other girls. During their activity they would catch up on each other's lives. So Veronica was up first with her surprise plan and telling them all about what was going on with her.
They pulled into a place with an elaborate mini golf course.
“This looks amazing,” Jamie said as they stood outside.
“I haven't been mini golfing in forever,” Natalia stated.
“Well let's go,” Veronica said leading the way.
They each picked their clubs and a ball, a mauve for Veronica, pink for Heidi, brown for Natalia, and purple for Jamie. They decided to go with the harder course and Veronica wanted to keep score.
All through out the game Veronica was catching them up on her life.
“So I didn't get a chance to ask yet, how's your mom?” Jamie asked.
“Good,” Veronica explained. “She's still in the hospital, but she's doing well.”
She then went into detail about all that they had been through. She told them about Garrett's new girlfriend.
“She sounds better than the last one, I don't think I'd mind meeting her,” Jamie said remembering that fateful dinner.
Veronica filled them in about her family, and her own life, and of course talked about Lucas and their future plans.
They each stayed pretty close to each other's scores during the game, but Veronica came out on top being clearly the more skilled at mini golf.
“I'm up,” Heidi announced as she climbed into the driver's seat. The girls chit chatted as they made their way through town. Finally stopping at this touristy restaurant.
“We're eating here?” Veronica asked.
“Yep,” Heidi answered with a smile.
“But this is where the tourists go,” Natalia said.
“There's a reason we avoid this place,” Jamie finished.
“I know, but I heard the food is really good here, and what I have planned, it won't be weird to do it here,” Heidi told them.
“And what exactly do you have planned?” Natalia asked warily.
“We are going to speak in accents while we are here. The whole time we are in the restaurant,” Heidi announced smiling.
The girls all laughed, but agreed.
“OK, I'm going with a British accent,” Jamie said. “I do French at Disney all the time, I want to change it up.”
Each of the other girls picked their own accents to do and then they all went in and Heidi asked for a table for four in her accent. That set them all off giggling and Jamie had a feeling it was going to be a long meal.
They kept up the charade the entire time, although it got difficult when Heidi was filling them in on her life. All the talk and the seriousness of the conversation was making it hard to maintain their accents, but they succeeded.
Heidi filled them in on Germany and her mom. She even told them about Jan calling and asking her permission to marry Elsa. Her face had a dark look to it as she talked about all of that, but brightened when she started talking about her grandparents. She filled them in on all of that. And then the conversation switched to Axel and that turned into Greg. She had a lot to tell them since none of them had spent any time with her since last summer really. It was nice to hear her talk about all of it and Jamie hoped it helped her too. It finally felt like they had their old Heidi back.
As soon as they exited the restaurant they all laughed and went back to speaking normally. It was getting dusk finally and Natalia got a grin on her face. “It's my turn,” she said.
Natalia had a gleam in her eye as she drove and it made all the girls a little unsettled, but excited too. They had no idea what was going to happen, but they knew it was going to be exhilarating. The car was quiet, but charged. They pulled up to a hotel right outside of town and Natalia parked the car in the back, towards a dark corner.
“What's going on?” Jamie finally asked.
“We're sneaking in,” Natalia answered still grinning.
“It's a hotel, you don't really need to sneak in,” Veronica explained.
“You can't use the facilities unless you are staying here,” Natalia told them. “But we are going to go use the pool anyhow.
“We don't have our bathing suits,” Heidi pointed out.
“So what? It adds to the thrill,” Natalia said.
The girls laughed, but said they were in. Natalia had it all planned out and they snuck in the back way that was closest to the pool. It wasn't late, but no one was around. The pool was crowded more during the day, than at night, plus this hotel didn't see as much business as the ones in town did. Natalia stripped down to her undergarments and dived into the pool. The other girls laughed at their friend, but quickly did the same thing. They all did a few laps and got all their energy out in the pool and then they started to lounge around.
Finally Natalia started talking about everything that had been going on with her. Her parents, Preston and Krystina, and then the big kicker, moving to Florida. They were all stunned and didn't know what to say. They finally all started talking her out of it and told her she needed to think about it some more. She went into more detail about her life and her feelings. They knew what she was talking about, all of them had been there before. Just then a security guard came in and started yelling about how they weren't to be there and they had to exit the property immediately.
The girls all jumped out of the pool and grabbed their clothes. They were throwing them on as they ran outside and hopped in the car. The guard trying to chase them down. But he was slower and a bit bigger and not able to squeeze through the opening Natalia had managed to find. Jamie drove off leaving the security guard wagging his fist at them. The girls all bursted out laughing as they were safe on their way.
They finally made it back to Be Our Guest for Jamie's portion of the night. By now it was dark and night was settling in. They walked into the house and Jamie instantly started laughing.
“What?” they all asked.
“We look ridiculous,” she said pointing at their clothes. None of them had managed to get their clothes on properly and some of them weren't even wearing their own clothes, but each others. The clothes were wet in places and their hair was a mess.
All of them started laughing and Jamie gestured for them to head upstairs to her room. There laid out were all of their belongings that they would need for the night. Pajamas and hairbrushes and such. They all changed and made themselves presentable. And then Jamie led them downstairs to where the big screen tv was. All their favorite snacks were laid out and Despicable Me was in the dvd player.
“In case you haven't figured it out yet, we are having a movie night and slumber party,” Jamie said.
They all settled in to their favorite spots with a pillow and a blanket and watched the movie eating up all the snacks. Then they headed back to Jamie's room to settle in for the night.
“OK Jamie, it's your turn to dish,” Heidi said.
“Yeah, and let's start with what your big announcement was yesterday,” Veronica said.
“Oh that,” Jamie said smiling. “It was nothing really.”
“It had to have been something,” Natalia answered. “You don't throw that sort of party for nothing.”
“Eric does. You know how he is. He gets excited over every little thing. He was just really proud of me getting these new characters at Disney and being able to cast them. And we did that Tuesday and picked out some great guys, so he wanted to celebrate.”
“He's so weird sometimes,” Heidi said.
“Oh I know,” Jamie answered. She then went into detail about the casting experience and that soon went into talking about her parents and how they are back home, but come in a good bit to visit Reese. She talked about how her grandparents were moving here along with Eric's Aunt Clara and kin. She figured that her Aunt Addie and Uncle Arc would move here shortly too. Then it went into Jackson and Ella and how much better Jackson was doing. And finally she settled on talking about Reese.
“I mean I can't even explain it, she is just the cutest, sweetest baby girl, ever...” Jamie paused between praising her niece and showing off her pictures. “I've been going on for awhile about her haven't I?”
“Just like an hour,” Veronica said smiling.
“It's ok, aunt pride, we understand, sort of,” Heidi volunteered.
“But do you have anything else to talk about?” Natalia asked with a smile.
Jamie laughed, “Actually I do. I was saving this til last anyhow. I don't like Eric's new handler, Riley. Have you guys met her?”
They all shook their heads no.
“Well I just keep getting these bad feelings about her, from like the moment we met. She's real touchy, with me, but even more so with Eric. She constantly has a hand on him. And then she acts all sweet, and the things she says are really friendly, but I feel like they had double meanings. Like the other day she said something about how she was sure I had to appreciate Eric because a ton of girls are waiting in the wings to date him. That's weird right?”
“Yeah, who says that about another girl's boyfriend?” Veronica asked.
“Exactly! And then today they were spending all this time bonding. They were sharing each other's favorite things about Disney and then later were meeting up with the rest of the team, but still.”
“They were spending all that time alone together?” Natalia asked.
“No wonder you looked like you were going to murder someone when you came out today,” Heidi said.
“Yeah, I'm not happy about it. And I told Eric and he still went. So I'm sure we have more fighting to do yet.”
“We got your back,” Veronica said as the other girls nodded. They were already in protective mode.
The girls continued to chat as they slowly drifted off to sleep. Jamie was happy getting all of that out there, but she still felt unsettled with her last remaining secret.
