    They're better than wearing rings.
Of all the Disney Princesses, Ariel was the least inspiring when it came to fashion. The first half of the film saw her swimming around in a couple of clam shells (and the tail really limited her other accessory options). I actually had to look up what she looked like later in the film when she had legs (a green princess dress if you're interested), which suggests her style was less than inspiring. However, if she was to add a bit of style to her look, we'd imagine she'd plump for something a little bit like this Lanvin Art Deco Brass Shell Clutch. It even matches her bikini top! Sure, it might not be perfectly practical for the water, but it makes an eye-catching clutch bag. Pair is with a shimmery, gold maxi dress and minimal accessories for a dramatic look. It's got a princess price too, costing £1,280 from Browns.

  • Bling Ring costume designer dishes on Paris Hilton's closet
Sofia Coppola's buzzy new film "The Bling Ring" follows the true story of a group of teens from the Los Angeles valley who successfully - for a while, anyway - burglarize the homes of Hollywood stars including Megan Fox, Rachel Bilson, Orlando Bloom and Paris Hilton. Based on a 2010 Vanity Fair feature by Nancy Jo Sales and in Houston theaters now, the movie has received praise for its portrayal of bored, celebrity-obsessed, label-loving youth culture. Charged with channeling the film's showy aughts-era style? Costume designer Stacey Battat, whose résumé includes movies such as "Country Strong" and Coppola-directed "Somewhere," as well as the pilot episode of HBO hit "Girls." Through Battat's sartorial lens, viewers watch as the five main characters - Rebecca (Katie Chang), Marc (Israel Broussard), Nicki (Emma Watson), Chloe (Claire Julien) and Sam (Taissa Farmiga) - transform from Juicy sweatpants and Ugg booties to high-fashion couture. Chanel and Louis Vuitton, among other luxury brands, agreed to lend pieces for the movie. Considering the film's bleak materialistic undertone, did it take some convincing to get them on board, or was it game-on from the start? What we did with most of the houses is we planted a few pieces that (the lead characters) could get at each person's house. Marc steals a pair of pink pumps from Paris' closet, which wind up popping up later in the movie. Pink because it was Paris', but in the end I think we chose that style because it had a firm back and it was easier for (actor Broussard) to walk in. (laughs) The "Bling Ring" style - track suits, hair extensions - is not exactly what most would consider a fashionable bright spot in the past century.
