Tuesday , June 7th - Its your last day in New York and to celebrate Ella is hosting a party at her house.
"I'm happy we're friends again," I said as I put the strappy Alexander Wang's on my feet.
"I'm happy too," Dan said as he buttoned up his shirt.
I giggled, "I have a feeling we'll always be friends, no matter what," I smiled grabbing the Proenza Schouler from my suitcase. I stuffed it wih my necessities- phone, lip gloss, compact, mini perfume- I was good to go.
"Are you ready?" He asked and I nodded, taking one more look in the mirror.
My honey colored waves were sexily tousled, my skin glowing, and I just looked.. happy. Maybe that was because for once, my life was at peace.
"I'm definitely ready," I said linking arms with him as we exited our hotel room.
New York had been wonderful, it's been glitzy and glamourous, but I wasn't sure if it was for me. There were a thousand more cities out there for us to visit, and maybe, one of them would be for me.
When we finally arrived at Ella's party, we were greeted by the girls. They were all so perfect, all so happy looking, and finally I felt like I was one of them.
"Hey!" I greeted them as Dan leaned down, "I'll let you have your girl time," He whispered in my ear.
I nodded, "Ooh!" Meredith smiled and I giggled.
"Still just friends," I reminded them with a giggle.
"He seems interested though," Jess observed and I smiled. "Yeah, I don't think so." I winked.
After a while of socializing and having fun, drinking, and all together saying goodbye to the Big Apple, Dan pulled me aside.
We were still amongst all the people, but yet I still felt so secluded and private.
"What is it?" I asked and then he reached into his pocket, smiling as he pulled out a familiar little blue box.
"Is that.. Tiffany's?" I asked as he handed it to me with a nod, "Open it," He instructed.
I opened it to find a cute little ring, engraved into it 'Tiffany & Co' and engraved in the inside was 'Best friends'
I smiled wrapping my arms around him and hugging him. "You're the best friend I could ever have," I said kissing his cheek.
"I love you," He muttered into my hair.
"I love you too," I smiled.
I pulled out of the hug, and then.. something happened. I don't know what, but suddenly there was a spark and I was leaning, leaning, leaning until my lips were pressed against his.
The kiss was sweet, but hard. Soft, yet passionate. It was the perfect balance of affection. And.. I didn't know how I felt about that.
Here I was, kissing this guy that was in fact my best friend.. and who was gay.
But I just pulled out, smiling like everything was perfect, even though on the inside, I was feeling sparks, a lot of them actually.
"This ring is beautiful, thank you," I smiled and he smiled back.
I blushed. This was awkward. It wasn't like in movies where they go back to being friend, no awkwardness.
I smiled a little bit, giving him a peck on the cheek. "I'm gonna go.. find the girls," I stuttered before turning around and disappearing.
"Was that what I think it was?" Jess asked.
"I don't know what you're talking about," I shrugged.
"Um, you guys KISSED!" Meredith pointed out. "That's definitely something,"
"So?" I asked. "We're friends,"
"Are you sure about that?" Jess asked.
I shook my head. "I'm not sure about it anymore.."
And I wasn't. That kiss... the sparks.. the pounding of my heart.. it was all such a feeling that was only given when I was with my ex, before he abused me.
I promised myself I wouldn't be falling for anyone o n this trip, and here I was, falling for the least expected person- my best friend, Dan.
