April is Autism Awareness Month and tomorrow (April 2nd) will be World Autism Awareness Day. I am dedicating this set to my beautiful 8-year old sister, who has Asperger's. She is bullied constantly by the kids at her school. You have all this power. Your words have so much power in the way you make someone feel about themself. Use that power to make someone feel amazing, not worthless. Don't be a bully, and treat those with autism with respect. You have no idea how much they really go through. Everyone, make blue sets and honor those with autism <3
This is my sister's story:
Please read this.
April will be Autism Awareness Month. I am dedicating this set to my beautiful 8-year old sister. She has Asperger's and she gets bullied by the kids at her school. She walks to school and everyday, she tries to walk with the other girls that walk to school. She tries to talk to them, but since she has Asperger's, she has trouble communicating with them sometimes. She is the sweetest girl ever and all she wants is to be friends. But they always bully her and shun her. Even her teachers make her sit by herself because she has trouble communicating and socializing with her classmates. This is SO wrong, and every school should train their faculty on how to properly teach autistic children. There are days when she comes home crying, and it just kills me to see her like this. She deserves to be treated so much better. She has done nothing to receive what she is going through and she is only 8 years old. She has the absolute most sweetest and caring personality, but her Asperger's just makes it difficult for her to put that into words. I want everyone to be aware of this and I hope that the next time you see an autistic person, you will treat them just as equally as you would treat your friends. They have a heart and they need just as much love as we do. Wear your blue in April, and support autism and my sister.
And everyone, let's make blue sets on April 2nd, for World Autism Awareness Day. Let's spread the word and make this a new trend on Polyvore tomorrow. Light it up blue and support those with autism.
