I really wanted to take part in the Greek myths contest and this is my entry.
It's Orpheus and Eurydike. That's the way I remember the myth: Poor nymph Eurydike stepped on a snake and died. Orpheus is so sad that he visits the gods of the underworld and pleads for her return to earth. He sings and plays and because his music is so beautiful and warms the hearts of the gods, they grant him his wish. There is one condition, though: on their way up to their home Orpheus isn't allowed to take one look back at Eurydike. He gets concerned however and does glance back at her. Now she has to stay in the underworld.
That last moment is the moment I depicted. It makes little sense that Eurydike is on a swing, but that pic inspired me. Orpheus is on the right with the light leading him and Eurydike's side is dark.
I picked this myth, because we translated it in Latin and it's so wonderfully romantic and tragic.
I really enjoyed making an art set like this and I might make more of them.
